In my series of small assemblage sculptures titled ‘Remnants II,’ I draw inspiration from what some might label as detritus or debris—items that appear discarded, perhaps from a construction site or a neglected warehouse alleyway. These materials, overlooked by many, are discovered by me and transformed into showcases of their inherent beauty. The work in this series delves into the concept that art can manifest in myriad forms, even within the realms of so-called dirty or neglected surfaces. I combine various sculptural elements, such as wood, hardware, cogs, wire, twine, and nails, with unconventional mediums like house paint, joint compound, wood stains, and roofing tar. This series sees me embracing a more minimalist approach to composition, while still exploring the rich textures and possibilities within each piece.
